Productions

Zeitgeist Theatre produces issue-driven, thought-provoking new writing that is relevant to people's lives. This is unpretentious theatre that challenges, reflects and focuses on modern times. Our aim is to relate this to an audience in an engaging, entertaining and creative way.

We believe theatre can change the world,
not just interpret it.

Recent Productions

'Doing my bit' by Zoe Lewis - Dares to show the funny side of living in multi-cultural London (read more).

Regular Scratch Performances

In order to keep current, Zeitgeist produces quick turnaround, collaborative plays for scratch performance. This is more than a play reading, but less than full production. The emphasis is on engaging plays that might be raw and unpolished, but are up to date, tackling stories in the news and issues everybody's talking about.

To ensure a high standard, Zeitgeist works with writers and directors who are already making a name for themselves as ones to watch. These are not newcomers, but experienced and trained practitioners building up a list of production credits.

Zeitgeist offers them the opportunity to stage new work, get audience feedback and offers great exposure within the industry.

This event is held every two months' at the Kings Head Theatre in Islington with a Signed performance (BSL Interpreter, Level 4) on the Friday.

Readings

Readings of scenes, monologues and first drafts by the best of new writers. This is a chance to see new work in progress and offer feedback to playwrights at the event. For writers, this is a great way to 'road-test' ideas and gauge interest. Complimentary wine included!

One-off Productions

Zeitgeist champions new writing that tackles social issues in an engaging and innovative way. It produces full length plays for evening runs at various fringe venues in London. These include Theatro Technis, Camden, The White Bear, Kennington, The Old Red Lion, Islington, Kings Head, Islington and Barons Court Theatre in Kensington.
